Tatiana A. Gavrilova, Doctor in Computer Science, Professor, Head of Information Technologies in Management Department, St.Petersburg University Graduate School of Management, was awarded with St. Petersburg State University award in 2015 for research papers in nomination “For Fundamental Achievements in Research” for her series of articles entitled “Models and Methods for Knowledge Structuring”.
The series of research papers of Professor Gavrilova T.A. illustrates the results of research in the field of development and use of visual ontology models. It is interesting not only for researchers and teachers in the field of knowledge management and intelligent systems development, but also for high-tech business and innovation sphere, where the role of knowledge is rapidly increasing.
Serial works of Tatiana A. Gavrilova in this area are mainly “pioneer”. This is confirmed by data from the RISC, where on one of the monographs of Tatiana A. Gavrilova (in co-authorship with Khoroshevskiy V.F.) there are 1013 references (withal the general RISC =2397 and h-index is 13).
Works of Tatiana A. Gavrilova are devoted to the development of methodologies and technologies of ontological engineering. It is an interdisciplinary field of formation of conceptual models of subject areas for further automation (development of intelligent systems, knowledge management systems, enterprise, training systems and others). The main emphasis is on the use of a synergetic approach – using the results of Gestalt psychology, system analysis and knowledge engineering.
The number of articles, presented to take part in the competition, contain the main research results reflecting different aspects of knowledge structuring and ontologies development, the influence of the characteristics of cognitive style on their collective development, and the specifics of their application in various industries. Also, the emphasis in research is on the visualization and study of ergonomic metrics of ontologies. For the first time the specifics of the ontologies development in group was considered and analyzed. A new classification of knowledge representation models, business models and conceptual models in education was proposed.
The issues stated in the research papers involve various conceptual questions of theory and practice of knowledge engineering regarding the peculiarities of its application in knowledge management systems in companies. The presented research papers make a significant contribution to the development of knowledge management theory, expanding the scientific understanding of the models and methods of extracting, structuring and formalization of knowledge.
Presented research papers make a significant contribution to the theory of knowledge management, expanding knowledge about the models and methods of extracting, structuring and formalization of knowledge.
This contribution was highly appreciated by the members of the Academic Council of St. Petersburg State University, who decide on the prize award.
Award for Professor Tatiana A. Gavrilova is one of six awards granted in 2015 in St. Petersburg State University for fundamental achievements in research for series of papers by one or several authors.
We congratulate Tatiana A. Gavrilova with her award and wish her further successes in research!
