The team of the Center for Entrepreneurship of the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg University (GSOM SPbU) analyzed actors and mechanisms for the effective implementation of cooperation between the university and industry with a view to form entrepreneurial thinking and skills of students. The project was based on an in-depth analysis of the case of collaboration between GSOM SPbU and MegaFon within the 5G_DREAM_LAB initiative.
“In this study, special attention was paid to cooperation between companies and universities as a form of joint investment into human capital development.
This form of collaboration opens up more opportunities for enforcing practice-oriented university education, allowing better aligning with the needs of business. The results emphasize the importance of companies' participation and their initiative in the development and implementation of an educational program.
At the same time, the factors for the successful implementation of practice-based learning include openness to experiments, trust between partners, as well as the transfer of responsibility for an educational outcome to students participating in the program,” - said the project leader, Associate Professor of the Department of Strategic and International Management, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at GSOM SPbU, Karina Bogatyreva.
The research was carried out as part of a grant from St. Petersburg University (ID: 77100700). The results were presented at the international conferences — Strategic Management Society (SMS) 2021 and United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) 2022. Based on the results of the project, academic papers in research journals will be published.
