Increasing attention to the ESG agenda is a characteristic of the transformation of the corporate sustainability model, the modern stage of business participation in solving sustainable development problems. This point of view was expressed by Yury Blagov, Director of the Center for Corporate Social Responsibility of the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg University (GSOM SPbU) at the conference of the Vedomosti ESG — Corporate Social Responsibility.
“The rapid transformation of markets against the backdrop of a deepening complex of global problems, primarily environmental ones, lead to a change in the expectations of all stakeholders, so now following the ESG agenda that reflects these expectations is not a matter of fashionable slogans, it is business survival.
All elements of the agenda are closely interlinked, and require a concerted effort from companies across all management functions. The interpretation of social aspects (“S”) as narrow tasks of human resource management and charitable activities is gradually becoming a thing of the past”.

During the conference, the participants discussed how not to violate the principle of the indivisibility of the ESG triad, manage the social aspects of sustainable business development and measure their effectiveness, and also considered impact investment practices in Russia and approaches to assessing the S-aspects in ESG rankings.
