The international seminar presents the research outcomes with regards to the diaspora phenomenon investigation led by the Center of Russian multinationals and global business. The special emphasis will be placed on the theoretical base by providing the criteria that qualify someone to be identified as a member of a diaspora, clarifying the existing streams of research focusing on diaspora and emphasizing their contribution in the host country firms. The special focus of the seminar is the practical value for both firm managers and policy makers on how to leverage benefits from co-national and foreign diasporas. Specifically, focusing on the Chinese diaspora in Russia and the concepts of organizational capabilities and legitimacy, the scholars of the Center aim to discuss how the Chinese diaspora can benefit in the competitiveness of Russian firms domestically and internationally, and how Russian firms can uniquely leverage these potential benefits. The seminar is organized by Graduate School of Management (Saint Petersburg State University, Russia). The research was supported by St. Petersburg University, project ID 77099884. The seminar is open to public, the pre-registration is required.
