Dmitry V. Livanov
Ex-Special Presidential Representative for Trade and economic relations with Ukraine
Born: February 15, 1967 in Moscow.
He graduated with honors from the Faculty of Physical Chemistry, Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys "Physics of Metals" (1990) and holds a Graduate Diploma in Law (2003) from the Moscow State Law Academy. He defended his PhD in Solid-State Physics at MISA,
1990-1992. From 1992-2000, he held the positions of Research Scientist, Senior Research Scientist, and Associate Professor at the Department of Theoretical Physics MISA.
He served as associate Vice-Rector for Research from 1997-2000 and from 2000-2004, as Vice-Rector for International Affairs, and Professor of the Department of Theoretical Physics at MISA.
From 2004-2005, he was Director of the Department of State Science and Technology & Innovation Policy of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
From 2005-2007, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation. Since April 2007, Rector of the National University of Science and Technology "MISA".
In 2009 he was listed as one of the “First Hundred”, the executive candidate pool under the President of the Russian Federation. He is Professor, Doctor of Sciences in Physics& Mathematics.
On May 21, 2012, Dr. Livanov was appointed Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, by Presidential Decree.
Awards: Gold medal of the Russian Academy of Sciences for Young Scientists (2000)
Prize winner of the Government of the Russian Federation in (2011) in the field of Education.
Now Dr. Livanov is Special Presidential Representative for Trade and economic relations with Ukraine.
