Goals and objectives:

Every individual spends most of his/her life in organizations (from schools, to sports and/or community activities). Everyone’s work life involves working with, in, or for organizations, and, potentially, creating one’s own organization. Therefore the aim of the course is to provide students with the understanding of key factors and parameters of behavior of individuals and groups in organizations, that is:
• to acquaint students with key theoretical perspectives on organizational behavior and their practical implications,
• to enhance their understanding of dynamics of human-related processes in organizations,
• and thus to develop their skills, as future organizational citizens and potential managers, to effectively manage their relationships with coworkers, managers, subordinates, clients and customers

Additionally, special attention will be paid to the basics of human resource management. Aims of the second part of the course are to increase students’ knowledge of different concepts and perspectives of modern HRM and to explain the strategic role of HRM in realization of business strategies. 

Course Content:

Part 1 introduces key conceptual frameworks that are used to analyze major aspects of organizational behaviour (structure, culture, communications, teams, leadership, individual) and discusses how they can be applied in practice.

Part 2 covers the theoretical foundations of HRM, concepts, models and processes, HRM strategies and types of HRM strategies, strategic functions and roles of HR departments in modern organizations. 

Teaching Methods:

Lectures, case analysis (each class), discussions, teamwork on analytical project during the semester (2 per semester)
