The competition of multimedia stage designers and directors is held annually as part of the Saint Petersburg Digital Opera Festival. Its goal is to combine opera and contemporary digital art. The project is implemented with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. This year, the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg University joined the partners of the event.
Deputy President-Chairman of the Management Board of VTB Bank, Director of GSOM SPbU Olga Dergunova is convinced: “To manage people, you need to be versatile. Managing a choir, orchestra, soloists is also a special art of management. So, even if you love opera and look at the work of a conductor, you think: wow, the choir was a little late in the introduction, you need to think about how not to be late for your deadlines".
GSOM SPbU students attended the dress rehearsal of the final show and were able to see with their own eyes how technology is being introduced into the scenography and dramaturgy of classical and contemporary works. In November, the Business School will host a lecture “Management in Culture: How to Combine Opera and Digital”. The general producer of the festival, Nadezhda Abramova, and the Art Director of Digital Opera 2022, Sergey Novikov, will tell students about the prospects for using digital technologies in the theater, the development of digital festival projects, organizing the work of creative teams, and the interaction between the director, artist, and content creator.
In October, the Business School began training theater managers together with the Alexandrinsky Theater and developed the program "Fundamentals of Management in the Modern National Theater" as part of the All-Russian project "National Theater School". In the summer, GSOM SPbU experts conducted a communication training for the administrative team of the Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theater.
