The meeting of the working group "Methods of teaching in a hybrid format" of the Federal Educational and Methodological Association in the field of higher education was held on the campus of the Graduate School of Management of SPbU. The meeting was held in a hybrid format. Representatives of 18 universities from different regions of Russia were able to see the main advantage of this technology - the equal involvement of all participants in the work process, regardless of whether the person is present in person or connected online.
Olga Dergunova, Deputy President-Chairman of the Board of VTB Bank, Director of GSOM SPbU:
“The GSOM SPbU Mikhailovskaya Dacha campus is a world-class campus, the result of effective investments by the goverment, private business and educational institutions in IT infrastructure and teaching methods. And the conversation about hybrid learning, first of all, is a conversation about how to use modern technologies as efficiently as possible in the interests of both students and teachers. The GSOM SPbU team is happy to share their unique expertise in implementing a hybrid learning format at the Business School and openly talk about all the technical and methodological innovations. This format of education opens up new opportunities for modern universities, and a joint discussion of the experiments of the universities participating in the FUMO working group "Methods of teaching in a hybrid format" will help find the best solutions for the future development of the field of education.
The development of a digital educational environment is one of the strategic priorities of GSOM SPbU. The hybrid form of education has not lost its relevance even after the pandemic, continuing to develop and gradually transforming into a new sustainable format of education. Olga Alkanova, Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence Lab at GSOM SPbU, shared her experience in creating hybrid classrooms at the Business School.
When planning the introduction of a hybrid learning format at a university, it is necessary, first of all, to build on educational tasks. The choice of technical solutions will depend on them.
Olga Alkanova presented the concept of a hybrid space at GSOM SPbU, which goes hand in hand with modern teaching methods and responds to the needs of participants in the educational process - lecturers and students. The participants of the working group got acquainted with all the possibilities of the technology at a demonstration session.
The interactive part of the meeting was built in the format of group discussions. The participants discussed how the hybrid form of education is currently being implemented in universities and what are its advantages for lecturers and students.
Irina Teleshova, Deputy Dean for Educational and Methodological Work of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Academic Secretary of the FUMO in the system of higher education in the field of "Economics and Management":
“Today, my colleagues and I are putting into practice the principle of Learning by doing — doing by learning. Guidelines and a new standard are expected from FUMO for our enlarged group. In conditions of limited time, we need to clearly understand what we can do, what ideas to lay down. And here the points of view of universities with different experience in the introduction of a hybrid form of education are important. A meeting in a hybrid format will allow today, not in words, but in deeds, to understand all the pros and cons of our work.”
In the next phase of the discussions, the working group participants reflected on what the hybrid learning of the future will be like in universities. Expanding the boundaries of the university and the geography of scientific research without being tied to a single location, improving the competencies of teachers, developing new flexible programs, unique opportunities for building international partnerships, new economic efficiency - this is a short list of the opportunities that may open up for the higher education system in the future.
Shaping the image of hybrid learning of the future made it possible to highlight the main topics that will be developed over the coming months. The result of this work will be recommendations for the introduction of hybrid learning in the universities of the country.
