On 29.04.2016, 16.30 Open lecture on topic A Historical Overview of Performance Management in Philips Research  

Philips Research is the central research and front-end innovation organization of Royal Philips. It was founded in 1914 and is one of the few industrial research organizations with a track record of more than a century. An overview will be given of performance management of this research organization in various stages of its rich history. Specific attention will be given to the period since the millennium, in which the Philips Group went through a major transformation from a diversified industrial to two future-oriented companies in Healthtech and Lighting.  Impact of business dynamics on the global Research organization, including developments in strategy and technology focus over time, will be discussed. A framework for Efficiency and Effectiveness will be presented that enables Research Management to balance performance for various stakeholder groups and drive continuous improvement.
