Graduate School of Management SPbU research activities are presented in the form of organized research as well as individual research projects. There are three main areas/programs of GSOM SPbU research that reflect core competencies accumulated over the previous period and are relevant to the school strategy:
strategic management (including strategic marketing) in the context of business globalization and knowledge-based economy development;
organizational dynamics in Russian economy context;
business-society interaction including institutional reforms issues (particularly in healthcare and education).
These major research areas are supported and developed through a network of GSOM SPbU research centers, issues of doctoral dissertations produced in GSOM SPbU, research conferences and workshop, as well as partnership with leading international and Russian research centers.
The main criterion of GSOM SPbU faculty research success is publication of the research results in leading international (i.e. included in ABS List and FT-45) and Russian (according to RINTS the impact-factor) academic journals.
Student interest towards research is stimulated by a number of regular GSOM SPbU events, including Annual Business Plan Competition, as well as other international and Russian professional competitions. GSOM SPbU students have been prizewinners in these competitions.
GSOM SPbU research support is based on the principle of co-financing. Recently, of the School has been about 50 million rubles. The main sources of the consolidated annual R&D budget are competitive grants from Russian governmental (including grants as part of St. Petersburg University 2020 Development Strategy), foreign governmental research support funds and private sector Russian and international funds, as well as targeted research projects funding from GSOM SPbU corporate partners and other companies.
The Center is created as a separate unit within the Graduate School of Management. It is aiming to unite and concentrate GSOM faculty, alumni, post-graduates and undergraduate students’ efforts on Entrepreneurship as one of the key research areas. The main goals of the Center activity are developing and dissemination of knowledge on Entrepreneurship.
The major goal of the Center is to develop and disseminate knowledge about the implementation and efficient management of PPP projects, as well as to provide a platform for interaction among public officials, business community and academics in the process of the implementation of PPP projects by integrating the competences of academics and professional experts.
The Center’s goal is to support GSOM SPbU mission — to educate and advance the national managerial elite strongly committed to the idea of implementing the principles of social responsibility for impactful societal and economic change.
The objective of the Center is creation of competences in studying marketing and innovation theories and methodologies using advanced experience of Russian companies in the comparative studies and spreading new knowledge among Russian academics and the businesses.
The Center for Russian Multinationals and Global Business (CRMGB) aims at developing and disseminating knowledge in the area of international business (IB), with a particular attention to Russian multinational enterprises (MNEs) and emerging markets.
