Abstract

 

The lecture will present  ongoing discussion in the European Union on the use of public funding to eliminate disproportions in socio-economic development. The existing territorial differences lead not only to serious economic consequences, but also political ones. Thus, it is necessary to eliminate them by redistribution of revenues. One of the examples of such interventions is the Cohesion Policy of the European Union. Its aim is to ensure the proper functioning of the common market by limiting social and economic disproportions in all regions.

 

About the speaker

 

Marcin Wajda - PhD (Econ.), Assistant Professor, Warsaw School of Business, 2018.

Work experience:

• Lecturer in the Collegium of Socio-Economics at the Warsaw School of Economics , where he obtained PhD in Economic Sciences. His scientific and research interests concentrate on problems of functioning of public financial instruments, regional development and cohesion policy. Lecturer of microeconomics, macroeconomics and public finances. 
• Specialist in the field of implementation of financial engineering instruments designed for micro-, small and medium enterprises and local territorial self-government units as well as municipal enterprises, 
• Extensive knowledge in the field of implementation and accounting of development funds, in particular those from the European Union.

Specific research interests:

• Knowledge related to the settlement of investments co-financed from public funds;
• Experience in the co-operation with the European Commission, European Investment Bank and Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, as well as loan and guarantee funds in the implementation of financial instruments;
• Knowledge related to the operation of regulated and non-regulated (shadow banking) financial systems; 
• Experience and knowledge related to the elaboration of development strategies, both on national and regional levels etc.
• Extensive knowledge in the field of fiscal policy.
