On June 10, 2021 at 6:00 PM a guest lecture will be held on the topic Are audit and accounting really as boring as they sound? The speaker will be Maria Rybakova, visiting lecturer-practitioner of the course Audit and Assurance of the Master in Corporate Finance program of GSOM SPbU, member of ACCA.

During the lecture we will discuss:

• what is audit and its types - the final product of the auditor's work,
• examples of various issues that accountants and auditors study when preparing and checking reports: from production technology to applied epidemiology, from the budget for building a ship to the financial model of a hotel complex,
• the cost of an auditor's mistake - scandals, intrigues, investigations. How the big five became the big four.

Maria Rybakova, ACCA member, visiting lecturer and practitioner of the Audit and Assurance course of the Master in Corporate Finance program at GSOM SPbU.

Maria Rybakova began her career in audit companies Big-4, where she rose from an intern in the audit department to a manager. Expert has experience in various industries: shipbuilding, food and household appliances, IT, hotel services - in positions from the hHead of the IFRS reporting unit to the Deputy Financial Director. Maria Rybakova graduated from GSOM SPbU in 2001. She also trained at Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA and Helsinki School of Economics and business administration.
