Research seminar “Case: Translation of the Results of the Research Project into an EMBA Training Program” will take place on June 20, 2023, 17:00 – 18:30 in English, online. |
Climate change as a global challenge makes firms facing a highly uncertain business environment where they have to navigate the respective complexities by means of market and non-market strategies. It is especially the case for multinational enterprises (MNEs) that operate in countries with different climate policies, thus, the importance of MNEs’ non-market climate strategies increases. We aim to explain the multifaceted role of MNEs’ corporate political engagement (CPE) which may be either in line or contradictory with the global climate agenda. The paper intends to discern a set of country-specific (e.g. institutional environment) and company-specific (e.g. degree of internationalization, state ownership) drivers which may inflect CPE towards higher level of climate responsibility. Thus, our research advances the understanding of the multifaceted role of political strategies for tackling the climate change challenges which is a disregarded phenomenon in the extant international business and sustainability research.
