Google Online Marketing Challenge (GOMC) is a great hands-on exercise for undergraduate or graduate students in classes such as advertising, ecommerce, integrated marketing communication, management information systems, marketing and new media technologies. The goal for students is to create an effective online marketing campaign in Google AdWords.
With a US$250 budget provided by Google, students develop an online advertising strategy for a real business or non-profit organization that has not used AdWords in the last six months. The global winners and their professor receive a trip to the Google Headquarters in Mountain View, California to meet with the AdWords team. The competition is open to all students, regardless of major, with teams ranging in size from three to six.

The fourth edition of Ace Manager is starting February 20th 2012.
Stand face-to-face with best students from around the world on a business court!
Ace Manager is an international competition created by BNP Paribas for students worldwide putting you in the role of a banker for 4 weeks and for living a unique experience. While playing the game you will improve your knowledge as well as get familiar with BNP Paribas’ three core businesses: Retail Banking, Corporate & Investment Banking and Investment Solutions.
During the online phase of the game, the participating teams will test their professional capacities for the different activities of the bank through several “business cases”. Their mission: find the best solutions for their clients in order to help them achieve their objectives.
The registration phase will end the 15th of February 2012, and the Business Game will start the 20th February 2012 for 4 weeks. 5. Final Contest. In March 2011 the course of education program “Introduction in IT industry” has finished. Such companies as: EMC2 (St. Petersburg Development Center), Intel, Microsoft (Imagine Cup Contest), Nokia (FRUCT Program), Opera Software, Yandex, Agnitum, RUSSOFT, Business Incubator “Ingria” (Web Ready Contest), Wikimedia.RU, PDMI Computer Science Club took part in this program. In the end of the course GSOM graduates of International Technology & Innovation Management Master program Egor Naumov and Dmitrii Orlov received an intership from global known companies Yandex and 2Nova with the prospect of future employment.
By the results of Microsoft Case Competition2010, which focuses on search for energy, talent and business-oriented young men and women, GSOM graduates of International Management Master program Natalia Malyk and Alexey Fedorov received employment offer from Microsoft company. BNP Paribas Ace Manager is the first-ever online banking adventure game for undergraduate and graduate students around the world. During 4 weeks, students will play the role of a banker and experience the bank’s 3 core businesses.
About 75 top students from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa met in Germany for an all-expenses-paid three-day event with an exciting mix of technology, business, and social programs. The main program took place at the IBM Boeblingen Research and Development Lab, but they will also visit the Headquarter of IBM Germany in Ehningen. "R U HR?" is a new business game launched by L'Oréal this year. Focused on strategies in human resources management, it was designed for students of various specialties. The case of the game was to develop HR-strategy for Ukraine.
Best European teams were competing for the 1st place - winners of the national finals from Denmark, France, Germany, Italy and Latvia.
It is for the first time in the L’Oreal business-games history when Russia's team has become the winner of the International Final.
Anna Sheverdiaeva, GSOM team member, shared her inpressions about the business game:
"We did a presentation after the French team from Paris Dauphine University. The audience and the jury welcomed us very friendly. Questions were difficult enough but very interesting. Our impressions after the competitions and trip are amazing! Long preparations, sleepless nights, tedious waiting. But it was worth it! We were delirious with delight when the winners were unveiled. We could not believe that it really happened - students from Russia won the final of an international business game RU HR? L'Oréal".

L'Oréal Pre-Case presentation took place on February 16th -17th at Volkhovsky pereulok, 3, Rm. 211 in Saint-Petersburg
On this step teams had to prepare 15 minutes Power Point presentation of the Pre-Case Study in English and then make it also in English to the Russian jury. After this step 5 teams will be selected who will work on the Case Study.
14 GSOM teams took part in the Selection Stage.
Sun Tech Days is to be held on April 8 and 9, 2010, in St Petersburg, Russia. Sun Microsystems organizes the conference throughout the world for more than 10 years.
The conference gathers leading IT specialists from several countries, as well as students and university professors. More than 3500 visitors attended Sun Tech Days 2009 in St Petersburg. Lenexpo, building 7, opens the doors to the conference guests again - welcome!

"Fancy - City Without Problems". GSOM's team presented their project "Three Centuries' Dream: Forming and Developing the City Brand". Since Nov. 2005 till Feb. 2006, 36 student projects were competing for participation in the 2nd round, but only 6 of them succeeded. The project developed by the team of SOM students Konstantin Antonov, Yekaterina Borisenko, Andrey Vozisov, Vladimir Nechaev (4th year Public Administration) and Olga Shumeyko (3rd year Public Administration) accompanied by St. Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance Maria Afanasieva and Dmitry Novoseltsev, was recognized as a most perspective and relevant, received three extra awards and went to the final on Apr. 27, 2006. The competition was judged by SMS voting (which had been questioned by many during the previous contest), upon its result the project came second.

"Fancy-3" business game. The team of 4th and 5th year students Olesya Starzhinskaya, Vitaly Fedyanin, Ivan Bulychev, Konstantin Skvortsov and Anna Ossinskaya came second in the contest with real "business sharks".
"Fancy - City Without Problems". Delovoy Peterburg in cooperation with the city government organized a parallel project "Fancy - City Without Problems" with more than 30 teams competing. GSOM was represented by 3 teams, one of those (4th year Public Administration students Yelena Paramonova, Maria Kutylovskaya, Yekaterina Kudryashova, Marina Nikolskaya, Tatiana Schegoleva, Natalia Reznichenko, Yulia Bitina, and 4th year Marketing student Dmitry Kovalchuk) went to the 1st stage final along with 5 other university teams (Baltic State Technical University, St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University, St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Hertzen Russian State Pedagogical University, Boch-Bruyevich St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications). In the 1st round (Oct. 2004 - Jan. 2005), SOM students succeeded in proving the necessity of building a new kind of fast-speed public transport - "Ground Express" - in St. Petersburg, and won the 1st prize among finalists. In the 2nd round (March-May 2005) SOM's team developed an ambitious project "Central Fast-Speed Circle" of their own. Upon the voting by the ceremony guests, jury and via SMS, the project came first along with the Baltic Technical University's team, but the organizers changed the rules on the way, and the latter was proclaimed the official winner. |
