General information
UQ is a founding member of the national Group of Eight (Go8), a leading group of
Australian universities that conducts a significant portion of all university research
in Australia. UQ is one of only three Australian members of Universitas 21 (U21), a
global alliance allowing UQ to offer students unique opportunities to participate in
student exchanges and events throughout the world.
In the 2015 edition of the Good University Guide, UQ was awarded five-star ratings
for student demand, research grants, staff qualifications, research intensivity and
good teaching. UQ has also achieved a Five Star Plus rating for excellence in
teaching and research quality, infrastructure and graduate employability - the
highest rating given to a university by QS Stars.

In 2014, the University had 50,749 students including 11,155 international students from 140 nations.

UQ has space details recorded at 25 sites with 607 buildings covering 788,269 m2 (gross floor area) and holding 551 teaching rooms and 2058 laboratories
