Founded in 1984, School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University(Tsinghua SEM) was the first economics and management school in China. Its Founding Dean, Professor ZHU Rongji, later became the fifth Premier of the People’s Republic of China. Tsinghua SEM is now among the premier business schools in Asia and enjoys world-class faculty, students, and research centers. It is the successor to Tsinghua University's Department of Economics, which was established in 1926. Since then, the school has built a powerful and influential alumni network. Tsinghua SEM has the largest student-exchange program in China (with more than 50 world-class business schools), and also maintains strong relationships with both domestic and multinational corporations.
International Recognition and Prestige
Tsinghua SEM is consistently ranked one of the best among business schools in China. It is currently the only mainland Chinese institution outside of Hong Kong to have achieved the prestigious AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System) accreditations for its business and accounting programs. The school is a member of PIM (Partnership in International Management) and CEMS (Global Alliance in Management Education) international associations.

Tsinghua SEM offers
Currently there are over 900 students in Tsinghua SEM. Almost half of the new students were among top ten in their provinces on exams.
Faculty
As of November 2009, Tsinghua SEM has 135 full-time faculty members, including 45 professors, 53 associate professors, and 37 assistant professors. 119 faculty members have PhD from top Chinese or international universities. Four hold Cheung Kong Scholar Professorships, and five are recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.
