All the members of the Advisory Board for Institute “Graduate School of Management” St. Petersburg University for the first time since the GSOM SPbU new campus “Mikhailovskaya dacha” was open gathered within its walls. Before the meeting honorable guests observed the new campus and noted the unique conditions created for the students and the staff.
The meeting has been chaired by Sergei Ivanov, the Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office, chairman of the GSOM SPbU Advisory Board since 2007.
In the Advisory Board meeting participated Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, the Russian President's aide Andrei Fursenko, Chairman of the Russian Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina, Chairman and CEO of VTB Bank (PJSC), the director of GSOM SPbU Andrey Kostin, Rector of St. Petersburg State University Nikolai Kropachev and other participants. Graduate School of Management as also represented by the Head of School Konstantin Krotov.
The meeting was also attended by invitees of the Advisory Board for GSOM SPbU: CEO and Chairman of the Board of PJSC "Magnit" Sergei Galitsky, chairman of the "Otkrytie" Holding board of directors Vadim Belyaev, CEO and Chairman of the Board of "SIBUR" Dmitry Konov. The candidates have been accepted to the Board unanimously.
The meeting was opened by Sergei Ivanov, who praised the work of GSOM SPbU. Chairman of the Advisory Board noted that Graduate School of Management SPbU has no competitors on Russian business education market. He affirmed the GSOM superiority by School’s entering the Financial Times ranking of the best business schools in Europe: “Our educational programs not only keep leading positions among Russian business schools, they simply do not have the competition here, but also began to achieve success in the international arena”.
The welcoming speech was also made by Rector of St. Petersburg State University, Nikolay Kropachev, who also noted the success of GSOM SPbU: “We have formed a strong teaching team, strong foreign academic partner network. The scientific achievements of our managers are now known in the world”. Rector also noted that GSOM has skyrocketed after Andrei Kostin has become a Director of the Institute.
Following the meeting, the decision has been made on the full support by GSOM Advisory Board: personal involvement of the Board members into the life of the School, their meetings with the students, guest lectures, development of the Endowment foundation of GSOM, as well as the possibility of using the Institute’s teaching and research opportunities for the members’ business development.
The Advisory Board for Graduate School of Management SPbU effectively operates since 1993. The Board consists of currently 36 members: representatives of public authorities, the largest Russian and international companies, and leading business schools. Among the members of the Advisory Board for GSOM there are heads of companies – the leaders of Russian and international business: PJSC "Gazprom", PJSC "Severstal" JSC "Rosnano", AFK "Sistema", OJSC "MMC Norilsk nickel”, Procter & Gamble, L'Oreal, PJSC VTB Bank, OJSC "Gazprombank", Citi, and others.
