Institute “Graduate School of Management” of the St. Petersburg State University again became the sole representative of Russia in the annual ranking of the Financial Times European Business School Ranking of the leading business schools in Europe - 2016.
“For the first time Institute “Graduate School of Management” of the St. Petersburg State University entered in the Financial Times ranking in 2013, and since 2012 Graduate School of Management is the best educational center according to global rating agency EdUniversal Eastern Europe” - said the rector of St. Petersburg State University Nikolai Kropachev. – “Results of the current Financial Times ranking became another confirmation of the high quality of education at SPbU. Such leaders of management education as the University of Economics, Prague (Czech Republic), Cass University (UK), Copenhagen Business School, the CBS (Denmark) have close positions in the ranking. Having 64th out of 90 possible, and responding to the highest international standards, stated Financial Times, GSOM is the best business school in Russia. However, we are not resting on our laurels and strive to be the best not only in Russia but also in the world”.
First Deputy Director of GSOM SPbU Konstantin Krotov explained some of the features of the rating: “Financial Times European Business School Ranking is an institutional rating that evaluates the standards of business school, based on the results of School’s particular programs in its other rankings. The inclusion of educational programs in these rankings is possible only if certain criteria are met. At the moment, the master's program “Management” of GSOM SPbU is part of one of the integrable rankings (Financial Times Global Mastersin Management), and in 2016 it improved its position, rising to 39th place out of 90 possible. We expect that within a few years, the rankings will also include GSOM master's program “Corporate Finance” (Master in Corporate Finance - MCF) by increasing the number of places for students, and the Executive MBA program, provided readiness of graduates of the program to share information about their income”.
GSOM’s SPbU compliance with international quality standards
The targeted development of quality Master Programs in Management and Executive MBA Programs has allowed GSOM to achieve not only being the sole representative of Russia in the FT International Rankings, but has also resulted in its systematic improvement of its position in both the individual program rankings as well as the general school rankings.
All programs at GSOM are continually developed and implemented in close collaboration with its corporate partners – which are among the largest Russian and international employers and which give its students and interns the possibility of learning from international best practice. This is furthermore strengthened in the Master's Program by a semester in one of 70 international partner schools. Each year, about 40 graduate students are given the additional advantage of being trained in international joint or double degree programs at some of the leading business schools in the world. Among them are: the 29 partner schools of the CEMS MIM, (including such schools as HEC Paris, St. Gallen, Bocconi and ESADE) as well as Double Degrees with HEC Paris and WU Vienna University of Economics and Business and Lappeenranta University of Technology.
Financial Times rankings is a reliable tool for students and employers
Listing of GSOM SPbU in the European Business School in 2016 of the Financial Times is an evidence of the international recognition of the quality of educational programs of St. Petersburg State University in the area of Management and Finance, and their compliance with the requirements of the business community. For current and future students of the University it is an indicator of employment opportunities, providing conditions comparable to the conditions of work of the European business school graduates. Institute “Graduate School of Management” was founded in 1993 as the Department of Management of St. Petersburg State University in cooperation with the Haas School of Business, University of California Berkley.
