Information on the paper:
The paper is devoted to investigation of the impact of institutional environment on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and firm performance globally across 41 countries. Based on Whitley’s national business systems institutional framework and employing data from a large-scale cross-country study of student entrepreneurship (GUESSS) conducted in 2016 (n = 6389 active start-up founders), it examines the extent to which national-level institutions influence the EO-performance linkage. The study revealed that financial systems and supportive cultures enhance the benefits a firm receives by adopting an entrepreneurial strategic orientation, whereas legal and educational systems appear to weaken the positive EO effect on performance.
