At the Graduate School of Management, St. Petersburg University (GSOM), the first career counseling program based on coaching tools - “Go for Coaching” has completed. The program was launched by the GSOM SPbU Coaching Center in the fall of 2019. “Go for Coaching” was attended by 27 Senior Bachelor, Master and recent alumni of the School.
“In the fall of 2018, we launched the program with the first group of “volunteers”, and for us it was an experiment. We were sure of success, but the concrete result was presented only in general terms. And today, after the second issue, we can already talk about some results. For most students, coaching has become part of their management style, and some even launch their own coaching programs. It is especially pleasing that all participants in the program were able to see new opportunities and meanings in life!” said Aleksey L. Zamulin, Academic Director of the Coaching Center.
The “Go for Coaching” program consists of two phases — Learning and Giving bask. At the Learning stage, experts of the Coaching Center — Director Maria Dorokhina and Academic Director Andrey L. Zamulin, selected 27 senior students and alumni who were trained in the basics of coaching, learned the basic tools and methods. Upon completion of the theoretical part, the program participants try to be coaches and held individual sessions for students of the Leadership course, which takes place in the fourth year of Bachelor program.
During the second stage — Giving back — students of the program held three or more coach sessions with first and second year students of Bachelor programs. 28 students began individual work and answered important questions for themselves in order to advance towards clarifying their goals.
“For me, the second year of the program ended with a real delight from the depth and courage of immersing the students in working with themselves and with clients, and a sense of gratitude for working together with Andrey Zamulin. For all participants it was an amazing experience in pumping important skills, as well as professional testing and satisfaction from the work done,” shared Maria V. Dorokhina, Director of the Coaching Center.
