As part of the Forbes Education project, an analyse of the international ranking of the best Executive MBA programs (EMBA) 2020, prepared by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), was released. The purpose of the analysis was to show how the ranking is structured, why certain European schools occupy leading positions, what influences on it, and what position Russian business schools have. 

 

According to ranking the EMBA program of the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg State University (GSOM SPbU) took 97th place in the world and 39th in Europe and became the only program in Russia in the top 100 EMBA programs.

 

“Presence in international rankings — as a sport of great achievements — requires many years of effort to meet high standards. Internationalization, highly rated scientific publications, constant communication with the academic community, and the exchange of professors and lecturers are what make up the academic reputation, which affects the position in the rankings. As a business school, we are present in the specialized international rankings of the Financial Times and The Economist, the results of which are affected, among other things, by the success rates of alumni, their competitiveness, and wage growth in the first years after graduation. Providing the quality of academic program necessary for the entering in ranking requires substantial effort. The consistent implementation of the program towards internationalization has allowed GSOM SPbU to be the first Russian business school to get into international rankings. We are not going to rest on our laurels and want the business school to develop as the best in Russia. At the same time, positions in the rankings serve as an indicator that the right path has been chosen,” commented Olga Dergunova, GSOM Director on getting into the top 100 of the QS ranking.
