A submission period is open for students of the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg State University (GSOM SPbU) to participate in the International Financial Analysis Competition CFA Institute Research Challenge.

 

The annual competition for research in the field of equity capital is held by CFA Institute (CFA Institute) — an international professional organization that brings together specialists in the realm of Finance and Investments.

 

  

The task of the competition is to prepare a written report for a publicly traded company with argumented recommendations to «buy», «sell» or «keep». In previous years, the objects of the analysis were such companies as Norilsk Nickel, ALROSA, Moscow exchange and Magnit, whose top management served on the jury and assessed students’ works.

 

This year, fourth-year bachelor and master students of GSOM SPbU are invited to participate in the competition. This requires filling in a form, attaching CV and motivation letter in English. The competitive selection will last until September 30. As a result, a team of 3-5 people will be formed, which together with a GSOM professor and a mentor from a business association will start working on a case. 

 

Until 18-20 October of 2020, GSOM SPbU team will be officialy registered for participation in all-Russian selection stage, final of which will be held in March of 2021.

 

From 13 to 14 April 2021, a winner of all-Russian stage will perform in the region semifinal EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, Africa). On 20 April, a regional final of the competition will be held, and on 22 April — a global.

 

Participation in CFA Institute Research Challenge is an opportunity to:

• to go beyound the university audience and put into practice the knowledge of financial analysis,
• perform for practitioners from an industry, 
• to acquire new acquaintances in Russian and international expert association CFA.
