On November 28, 2020, the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg State University (GSOM SPbU) will hold Master programs Welcome Day. As part of a new strategy, the Business School is updating the programs "Corporate Finance", "Business Analytics and Big Data" and "Smart City Management". The main focus is on applied disciplines and increasing the attractiveness of GSOM SPbU alumni in the Russian and international labor markets.
The update will take place in several stages. First of all, it is planning to attract new lecturers — Russian business practitioners and international experts; start IT infrastructure development and formation of new requirements for academic courses. Nest the Business School aims to increase the share of applicants with a scientific, technological, engineering and mathematical background; and strengthen relationships with foreign universities. Thanks to all the changes, by 2023 GSOM SPbU will present top programs in business analytics, finance and smart cities.
An important element of the reboot of the Corporate Finance program will be the acquisition of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants accreditation. ACCA is an association of financial and accounting professionals that award qualifications that are in demand by employers around the world. Graduates of the program will be able to obtain a full association qualification within a year instead of the usual three to four years, taking part of the professional exams during their studies at the university. They will also have the opportunity to obtain a simplified bachelor's degree from Oxford Brookes University, and upon successful passing of the four final exams of the Association, a master's degree from the University of London.
To update the Business Analytics and Big Data program, an educational council has been created. It includes program alumni, representatives of VTB Bank, MegaFon, Mail.Ru, Yandex, Gartner, IBM and international partner universities. The program will consist of technology courses backed up by managerial disciplines, which will prepare IT managers and business analysts with a SotA technology track. Another advantage is that students will be able to use real data from technology companies when working on educational projects.
The master's program "Management and Development of Urban Agglomerations" is being transformed into the direction of Smart City Management. Regional and federal centers of expertise in the field of smart city project management will be created on the basis of GSOM SPbU. Now the Business School is establishing partnerships with specialized international associations, creating specialized courses that form the necessary skills for managing smart cities and developing exchange programs and partnerships with foreign universities.
The creation of educational products that meet the modern demands of the labor markets will allow graduates to use their full potential and become top managers and leaders in the chosen direction in any country in the world.
