The Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg State University (GSOM SPbU) invites graduates and fourth-year Bachelor students to participate in the Petropolitan Science (Re) Search Olympiad in the area of Urban Development Management. Winners will receive an additional 100 points toward their applications fors admission to the Master's program Smart City Management.
“The infrastructure of modern megalopolises is getting more complicated every year. How to make our cities liveable? One of the possible solutions is the “smart city” concept, which is based on improving the quality of life of people through creating a comfortable and safe environment, introducing technologies, economic sustainability and increasing the efficiency of city government bodies. The main instrument for the implementation of this concept is advanced digital and engineering solutions in urban infrastructure and city-forming industries. The most important need is for professionals who can develop these solutions. We therefore invite young specialists to offer their ideas at the Petropolitan Science (Re) Search Olympiad and receive privileges supporting their admission to the Master's program Smart City Management at GSOM SPbU, " said Academic Director of the Smart City Management program, Ekaterina Sokolova.
The Olympiad will be held in two stages. A registration and qualifying stage which started on October 15, 2020 and will last until March 1, 2021. Participants must submit via their personal account their research related to the analysis of urban infrastructure, social, financial and economic spheres of city development and other issues of urban development. Contestants who have gained at least 35 points will go to the finals.
The winners of the Olympiad will be the first three participants who, according to the results obtained in the two stages, have achieved the highest total score, but not less than 85. Prize winners of the Olympiad will be the next five participants with the highest total score, but not less than 70. The first abd highest category of Olympiad diploma will give 100 additional points towards admission to the program "Smart City Management", the second category will give 50 points *.
Students and graduates of Bachelor programs who are interested in urban development in the era of digitalization and plan to become applicants for the master's program at GSOM SPbU in 2021 can participate in the competition. More details about the format of the Olympiad and the requirements for research can be found on the website(additional information available in Russian only).
* Points for individual achievements are awarded only when applicants receive at least 65 points based on the results of the first admissions test according to the priority of admissions tests established by the Admissions Committee.
