Students of the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg State University (GSOM SPbU) took the fifth prize in the case competition "New Transport for a New Public«» organized by the Transport Committee of St. Petersburg.
The team representing the Business School included Master program students — Anastasia Baulina, Ksenia Bortnikova and Yegor Starshov (captain).
“Today's competition is a unique opportunity for you to improve your skills. I hope you will move forward boldly and confidently defend your projects. You have all the possibilities for this today. We really need you and we would be glad if your ideas could be integrated into our projects in the near future!” said Maxim Sokolov, Head of the Department of State and Municipal Governance, Vice Governor of St.
The contestants were faced with the task of presenting the expert jury with possible ways of developing the St. Petersburg transport system. The teams prepared reports based on one of the areas: “physical accessibility”, “safety”, “efficiency and speed”, “convenience” and “perception by residents”. The participants had seven minutes in which to brightly present their projects attractively and to surprise the jury with the creativity of their ideas. The heads of the city's transport enterprises also faced a difficult task: to evaluate the submitted works according to three criteria — uniqueness, practicality and synergy. For each of the three indicators, points were awarded from 0 to 2.
Participants in the final stage of the championship were the winners of the qualifying rounds in three sections: "Transport and Urban Environment", "Information Technologies" and "External Transport". In the final battles, five teams from higher educational institutions of St. Petersburg took part: SPbGASU, SPb University of Aerospace Instrumentation, Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University, GSOM SPbU and RANEPA.
The projects were evaluated by the heads of the leading enterprises of the transport industry in the Northern capital. Among them: Leonid Sergeev, General Director of Northern Capital Gateway LLC; Felix Vinokur, President of PK Transport Systems LLC; Alexey Bnatov, General Director of the Northern Capital Highway LLC. They took part in the event in an online format.
