The Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg University (GSOM SPbU) with the support of ANO ROSGONKI and VTB Group held the second season of the All-Russian GSOM Call 2021 - FORMULA 1 VTB RUSSIAN GRAND PRIX case championship. The competition brought together 109 teams, 330 students of various fields of study from 23 cities of Russia and 57 universities.
The participants studied the path of the fan during the Formula 1 races in Sochi, and also answered the main question of the case championship: how will the FORMULA 1 VTB RUSSIAN GRAND PRIX audience change in the next 10 years.
“For the second season, we are organizing all-Russian case championships with major business representatives. This is a great opportunity for students to test their competencies and declare themselves as young specialists even during their studies. We are grateful to ANO Rosgonki and VTB Bank for the opportunity to be involved in such a large-scale event as the Formula 1 race in Sochi. We hope that the solutions proposed by the students will be useful to the organizers and they are implemented in practice,”said Nadezhda Krylova, director of the Career Center.
The 10 best teams from St. Petersburg University, Moscow State University, the Financial University under the President of the Russian Federation, Synergy, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Higher School of Economics, Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, Novosibirsk and Kuban State Universities. Participants from GSOM SPbU: first-year students of the Master in Management (MiM) program Arseny Sidorov, Anastasia Yanochkina, Viktoria Antipova (InSWOTveritas team) and third-year students of the Bachelor in International Management program Anastasia Sairanova, Ekaterina Bazhenova, Viktoria Gladkova (Alfa Romeo team) took prize-winning places. The winners were representatives of the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg — Artem Maksimov, Victoria Zakharova, Linara Belorukova (Cases and Places team).
Prizewinners and winners of the case championship will receive tickets for the Formula 1 races in Sochi in September 2021, and the winning team will be able to complete an online internship at ANO ROSGONKI.
“Formula 1 is a very entertaining and striking sport, where a lot depends not only on the physical fitness of athletes, but also on strategy and tactics. I am sure that among the students of GSOM SPbU there are many creative people with a broad outlook and an excellent knowledge base, and their ideas and developments will help attract the attention of those who have not been fond of motorsport to Formula 1 races," said Victor Lukyanov, Senior Vice President of the Bank VTB.
In addition to the case championship, meetings with representatives of ANO "ROSGONKI" and a workshop on solving cases were organized for the teams, where the participants analyzed the results of the first round and received advice on passing the second stage.
