Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov and Governor Alexander Beglov have visited the opening of students' dorms on the Mikhailovskaya Dacha campus. The visit has been timed to coincide with an important milestone in the development of the campus — the launch of new dormitories for business school students.
Nine buildings of the dorms are now being taken into use. There are 600 GSOM SPbU Bachelor students who will be able to find accommodation. There are rooms with modern furnishings and appliances which are equipped for students, and multifunctional public spaces — coworking spaces — are provided. Housing units for people with limited mobility have been created, which are designed to meet all modern standards and requirements.
“GSOM SPbU is a leading Russian business school, which has earned high positions on prestigious international rankings among the best business schools in the world: Financial Times, QS, The Economist. The conditions under which GSOM SPbU students study and live today are a source of joy and pride. The Mikhailovskaya Dacha campus has been designed to meet the highest international standards. The unique combination of history, great architecture, comfort and modern technology provides an excellent environment for training responsible leaders of the future."
Sergei Ivanov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport, Chairman of the GSOM Advisory Board
The large-scale project for the development of the Mikhailovskaya Dacha campus is being implemented with the aim of creating a modern, comfortable environment for the training of a new generation of Russian management personnel. In 2015, Russian President Vladimir Putin inaugurated the first training space in the Main Building of the Mikhailovskaya Dacha. The launch of student dormitories is the next important milestone in the development of the GSOM SPbU campus.
“Students of the Graduate School of Management have received a world-class university campus. The Advisory Board under the leadership of Sergei Ivanov had to resolve many issues. It was necessary to combine the efforts of the Government of Russia, business representatives and the government of St. Petersburg. This is a good example of interaction. This is what made it possible to create such a modern campus.”
Alexander Beglov, the Governor of St. Petersburg
Today Mikhailovskaya Dacha is confidently becoming a world-class university campus. As part of the development of a digital educational environment, the educational building is equipped with hybrid classrooms for interaction in real-time as well as in remote formats on the basis of a single interactive space. Demonstrating the technical capabilities of the academic building, Rector of St. Petersburg University Nikolay Kropachev emphasized: "Hybrid formats allow us to significantly expand the geography of our students, invite leading scientists from all over the world to give online lectures, and make it convenient for our researchers to communicate with colleagues from different countries."
“The campus of GSOM SPbU is organized according to the principle of a 'green campus', where the use of all resources is based on responsible consumption. ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) principles are one of the key priorities of the GSOM SPbU Development Strategy until 2025, and “responsible leadership” is among the fundamental values of the business school. Together with the trustees, we bring the latest technologies and high standards to the life of GSOM SPbU, we are proud of the success of our alumni and look forward to providing more future responsible leaders in our companies. "
Olga Dergunova, Deputy President and Chairman of the Board of VTB Bank, Director of GSOM SPbU
In the unique location of Mikhailovskaya Dacha, all conditions have been created for a successful educational process, comfortable work and study. The historic palace and park ensemble known as Mikhailovskaya Dacha, thanks to the highly professional solutions of its architects and builders, harmoniously combines tradition, modernity and innovation. Today, with the participation of the federal and regional governments, trustees, teachers, students, alumni and partners of the Business school, the campus is becoming an ideal space for the implementation of the GSOM SPbU mission: to create knowledge, develop leaders, and change the world for the better.
