On May 25, a public talk “Can a social project be profitable?” will be held in the public and business space of Sevkabel Port. Representatives of The Navstrechu Peremenam Foundation, business and the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg University (GSOM SPbU) will talk about what social entrepreneurship is, how it differs from charity, as well as what business models and types of financing exist in this market.
Yulia Aray, Academic Director of the Master in Management Program at GSOM SPbU, will present the expertise from GSOM SPbU. A representative of Tele2, a company that is a member of the GSOM SPbU Advisory Board, will tell participants why such a form of corporate social responsibility is needed for big business, and what kind of global social effect social entrepreneurship has. Successful social entrepreneurs from St. Petersburg will share their stories.
The organizer of the event, the Fund for Support of Social Initiatives in the Sphere of Childhood “Navstreche Peremenam”, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. The Foundation helps develop impact entrepreneurs' projects that solve social and environmental problems and improve the quality of life of children and youth throughout Russia. On June 1, the competition will start, which allow social startups in the field of childhood to get into the professional development program, receive personal mentoring support and a grant of up to 1.2 million rubles.
