Hackathon "Procurement: Digital Evolution" was held at Mikhailovskaya Dacha campus of the Graduate School of Management of Saint Petersburg University. 79 students from 13 universities from all over the country took part in it.
The contest gathered Bachelor's, Specialist's and Master's (1st and 2nd year) students interested not just in programming, but also in analytics, product and project management, mathematical modeling, machine learning, big data and economic model design. The participants passed a test to be selected for an opportunity to come to Mikhailovskaya Dacha and gain the experience of new digital product and service development.
During the main stage of the hackathon teams solved such cases as procurement process transformation: appropriate customer path modeling, predictive model of procurement for the largest fields in Eastern Siberia; development of algorithms for vehicle arrival time prediction. Tasks had to be solved within 24 hours.
"This was the first career event with total immersion into a real business environment for students held at GSOM SPbU suburban campus Mikhailovskaya Dacha. The result exceeded all expectations: the partner company got a fresh approach to task solving, and the winners of the hackathon were added to the company's candidate pool. Over the last years, we have been experimenting with formats of joint partner career events. Among the results are: Dream_Lab, GSOM Call all-russian case championship, task solution Bootcamp for students and employees of companies where design thinking tools are applied and many other projects. We are inspired by positive feedback from the participants and organizers and will continue creating and launching formats interesting both for students and GSOM SPbU partners", - shared Elizaveta Troyanova, Director of the Career Center of GSOM SPbU.
Participation in hackathons is a great opportunity for students to apply their knowledge, practice teamwork, enhance competence and add a line into their future curriculum vitae.
