Professors of the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg University told about the benefits of learning at the Business School at the Saint Petersburg Scientific and Educational Salon. The largest event demonstrating educational, research and innovation activities of the city's educational institutions took place from 1 to 3 December at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Center.
Yulia Aray, Academic Director for Master in Management (MiM) program presented the flagship GSOM SPbU program delivered in English. This year, Master in Management reached the record-breaking 21st place in the Financial Times FT Global Masters in Management ranking, where it started as number 65 in 2013.
"Master in Management program prepares international level professionals, ー Yulia Aray emphasized. ー It includes obligatory subjects and elective courses. This approach allows students to choose individual learning tracks and get more profound knowledge in one of the functional areas of management: marketing, international business, logistics and finance. Students of the program also develop their analytical skills necessary for managers in various fields. The program offers an opportunity to learn a second foreign language. Apart from that, students are engaged in group work on consulting projects based on cases from GSOM SPbU partners, do internships in companies and pass a semester at one of the universities abroad. During the program students have an opportunity to attend trainings to master the skills required by a successful manager, such as personal development and soft skills enhancement trainings"
Innovations in education and staff training became an important topic of discussion at the Saint Petersburg Scientific and Educational Salon. Olga Alkanova, Head of the Teaching Excellence Lab in Business Education of GSOM SPbU presented one of the most technologically advanced vectors of Business School's development. She told the visitors of the salon about hybrid learning and new opportunities for the learning process that up-to-date technologies provide. After the pandemic hybrid learning not only remains relevant, but it also opened up totally different prospects for the higher education system: great opportunities for content delivery, continuous learning from any location and potential for expanding the target audience.
Olga Alkanova stressed that when deciding on adoption of hybrid learning format, a university should rely on learning objectives. Taking the digital experience of GSOM SPbU as an example, she showed how to create the solution development process from design to implementation and quality control. Thanks to this approach, GSOM SPbU managed to create hybrid classrooms with a well-suited set of equipment, seamless digital learning environment, minimum contacts with technical support, own methods for hybrid class design and up-to-date teaching methods.
Development of innovative teaching methods, active involvement of practicing lecturers and continuous enhancement of programs allowed GSOM SPbU to break its own record and was ranked 44th in FT European Business School 2022 among 95 best business schools in Europe, which is 13 positions higher than last year. Executive MBA program of GSOM SPbU took the 79th place in Financial Times ranking 2022.
The most recognized quality indicators of business and management programs are based on the graduates' feedback. The key assessment parameters are: career growth, income increase, financial status and compliance of the program with students' expectations.
This autumn, GSOM SPbU was ranked one of the three leaders according to Eduniversal international expert agency and became one of the best business schools in Eastern Europe alongside Corvinus University in Budapest.
Apart from that, the Business School maintains high positions in Positive Impact Rating based on the large-scale questionnaire survey of students. The questions concern management and corporate culture of institutions, education programs, teaching methods and student support.
