In recent years, one of the main trends in higher education is a flexible approach to learning, and more and more disputes arise in the teaching environment about what is permissible and unacceptable in working with students. When should you go along with the students' desires, and where is it important to clearly define limitations? It was precisely the topic of "Teacher Boundaries — Where Do They Lie" that was chosen for the second meeting of the Method.GSOM discussion club, which regularly takes place at the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg University (GSOM SPbU).

On one platform in an online format, the Center brings together leaders, professors, and methodologists from universities and corporate universities in Russia and the CIS countries to discuss current issues of methodological approaches in teaching and find solutions together.
On April 6, 2023, the club meeting was held in the format of a battle, where the leading and speakers of the event were professors of Russian universities who are members of the Method.GSOM expert community:
Throughout three rounds, the meeting's participants considered three cases from their teaching practice and offered their solutions: to go along with the students or motivate the students to adapt to the learning conditions.
After the speeches of all three speakers, the audience voted for the position that was closer to them. Between rounds and audience voting, the participants also discussed the boundaries of teachers' working time, the peculiarities of implementing an individual approach to learning, and the permissibility of students' influence on the content of the program and the course as a whole.
As a result of the discussion, the experts agreed that a professor's position depends on the audience they are working with, the administrative restrictions in a particular educational process, and, of course, the internal boundaries of what is acceptable that they set.
