The Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg University (GSOM SPbU) became the winner of the All-Russian competition for the best social practice among universities "Learning by Service". The "More than an idea" project took second place in the "Implementation of educational, industrial, undergraduate practice on the basis of a non-profit organization" nomination.
The developers of the methodological recommendations and the leaders of the practice were the teachers of the GSOM SPbU Yuri Blagov and Yulia Arai, as well as the invited expert Rostislav Speransky. The recognition of the pilot and prepared methodological recommendations in the professional community will make it possible to replicate this experience in other universities. "The Third Mission of Universities" - contribution to the development of society is an important part of the activities of GSOM SPbU.
"Learning by service" is a teaching practice that combines learning and working on real social and environmental issues. In other words, Learning by service enables educational projects to be carried out for social benefit.
The competition is held with the aim of identifying and replicating the best social practices among educational institutions of higher education implemented using the "learning by service" technology. This technology contributes to the popularization of socially oriented project-based learning for students of higher educational institutions.
In total, 157 applications were submitted for the competition, 17 projects became winners in various categories.
