On Friday, June 2, at the invitation of the students and the administration of the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg University (GSOM SPbU), Deputy Head of Administration Alexei Sopin and press secretary of the administration Victoria Goncharova visited the Mikhailovskaya Dacha campus.
The campus hosted the defense of annual term papers on the topic "Management of the territories development" for the second-year students of the bachelor's program "Bachelor in Public Administration". The teams analyzed 9 municipalities of the Leningrad region including Shlisselburg municipality.
Students Boris Goryachev, Konstantin Grishin, Irina Donskikh, Anastasia Zyryanova conducted a detailed study of the territory of Shlisselburg. They searched for information not only in reference data, but also among residents and guests of the city: they interviewed the population on social networks, traveled to the territory, communicated with the representatives of the administration of the Shlisselburg municipality.
After a thorough analysis of all the data they came to a unanimous opinion: Shlisselburg needs a bus station - modern, convenient and organically fitting into the architectural ensemble of the city. According to them, the place where the buses are now deployed is chaos, dirt and a mess, and there is the object of cultural heritage of federal significance next to it - the Cathedral of the Annunciation - the center of attraction for tourists.
The students proposed to build a bus station on the site of an abandoned swimming pool building, calculated its approximate cost and substantiated the socio-economic benefits. The main expected source of funding is to attract investors, since the city's budget resources will not be enough.
The project was carried out under the scientific supervision of Ekaterina Sokolova, Associate Professor of the Department of State and Municipal Administration.
According to Aleksey Sopin, the students very subtly captured the essence of the information they received and perfectly entered it into the term paper. He was also pleasantly surprised by the visualization of the project: the students prepared a video presentation in 3D format. This helped them stand out from all the participating teams and get the highest score.
The students thanked Alexei Sopin for his assistance. They were inspired by the city and promised not to stop. They are ready to finalize the project. The guys hope that it will be possible to translate it into reality.
At the end of the meeting, Anastasia Golubeva, Academic Director of the GSOM SPbU undergraduate program in State and Municipal Administration, gave a tour of the Mikhailovskaya Dacha campus for the representatives of the.Shlisselburg administration and invited them to upcoming events in June and July. This year, the city is represented in four different projects by GSOM SPbU students, and it will become one of the supporting territories for the GSOM SPbU Urbanist Summer School this summer.
Students inspire Shlisselburg for renewal and new life with their fresh ideas.
