On June 26, 2020, GSOM Online Hackathon launched a joint project of the Graduate School of Management at St. Petersburg State University (GSOM SPbU) and SIBUR. More than 35 students applied for a hackathon and formed 12 teams.
In the first stage, students solved the problem in the online format under the mentorship of the SIBUR managers. At the end of the stage, the company’s management selected six teams that will improve their solutions to the minimum viable product level (MVP) within a week, and will present them to SIBUR management in the final on July 3, where the hackathon winner will be determined.
The task that students solved was enlightened on the problem of transporting more than 4,500 employees to the largest petrochemical complex, which is located 10 km from the Tobolsk сity. Participants need to develop a return route plan for transporting personnel to the plant so as to minimize personnel transportation costs, and prepare a digital technical solution that allows flexible restructuring of the optimal route plan taking into account changes in transportation requirements, transportation tariffs and other relevant parameters.
GSOM Online Hackathon will allow participants to use their knowledge into practice, including advanced Excel skills, as well as compete for the opportunity to get an online internship at SIBUR, that is on the first place in the ranking of Russian employers.
