Career Center of the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg University (GSOM SPbU) has developed a new program "How to build a dream career". It will help students to see their professional opportunities, prospects and support at the start.
“How to Build a Dream Career” is an interactive program consisting of self-knowledge tools, a career guide, and work with industrial consultants – GSOM SPbU alumni who successfully work in various business areas.
Self-knowledge tools (questionnaires) are necessary for students to understand themselves and their professional interests better. They contain several questions and tests, the answers to which will help students understand their strengths, weaknesses, preferences and abilities.
A career guide has been developed for each educational program of GSOM SPbU - where a student can work after graduation (and sometimes during). There you can find out the range of salaries for a particular position and the requirements of employers: what hard and soft skills are needed in order to qualify for the desired position. The theory is supported by the examples of tasks to be solved in companies.
After the student has understood his professional interests and opportunities and learned about the expectations from the business side, he can turn to industrial consultants. 47 successful GSOM SPbU alumni representing 14 different areas from strategic consulting to industry and IT are ready to help develop a tactical plan for achieving career goals and support newcomers with advice at the start.
In addition, the students of GSOM SPbU always have the opportunity to contact the consultants of Career Center if they have any difficulties with choosing a professional track.
“The ability to build a conscious career track is an important competency of a modern young specialist. Understanding themselves and their career goals allows our alumni to build a career quickly, adapt to the uncertainties of the labor market and easily change career tracks. The How to Build a Dream Career program is one of the tools that helps students to formulate their career preferences and work out an individual educational track from the very first year,” said Elizaveta Troyanova, GSOM SPbU Career Center Director.
