Daria Bakalets, an alumna of the bachelor’s program “State and Municipal Management” at GSOM SPbU, spoke at the international conference ICEGOV-2023 in Brazil with the abstracts of the scientific article “Measuring citizens’ readiness to use electronic public services using clustering approach: the case of St. Petersburg.”
“The article, co-authored with GSOM SPbU professors Anastasia Golubeva and Evgeny Gilenko, was one of 40 research papers selected by the ICEGOV committee, and being responsible for this report at the conference is a difficult achievement that fills me with pride. The experience is simply unforgettable, and the quality of the discussions during the sessions undoubtedly provides the basis and inspires new research. Throughout the week, I had the opportunity to listen to reports and communicate with leading scientists and practitioners in the field of e-government. During the conference, we exchanged valuable information and perspectives on topical issues, which enriched my understanding and contributed to the development of knowledge in this ever-changing field. The ICEGOV conference is a pioneer in the field of e-governance discussions and it was an honor to contribute our ideas and share experiences on this international platform!” — said Daria Bakalets.
The ICEGOV (International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance) conference is held annually with the support of the United Nations University Operating Unit on Policy-Driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV), as well as the international association Smart City Business and is dedicated to the development of electronic government management. In 2023, the conference took place from September 26 to 29 in the city-municipality of Belo Horizonte, capital of the province of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
“It is noteworthy that GSOM SPbU participated in the very first ICEGOV conference held in 2007 in Macau. Since 2003, the Department of State and Municipal Administration of GSOM SPbU has been engaged in applied research in the field of new technologies of public administration including in terms of electronic interaction between the state, public institutions and citizens, and we are pleased that the level of scientific research, carried out by our students together with teachers, is assessed at such authoritative conferences as ICEGOV,” noted Anastasia Golubeva, Academic Director of the State and Municipal Management program at GSOM SPbU.
“It was an honor for me to represent GSOM SPbU at an international conference, to become a recipient of a prestigious scholarship from the United Nations University and to confirm the publication of the scientific research presented within its framework in the collection of the ACM digital library indexed by Scopus. I look forward to the next such opportunity to continue to contribute to the smart sustainability agenda and learn best practices from the world's best researchers!” - added Daria Bakalets.
