On February 3, a meeting of alumni and students of the MBA/Executive MBA programs of the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg State University took place as part of the Business School's "Territory of Growth" project. Managers and business owners gathered at the city campus of the Business School on Volkhovsky Lane to discuss the topic of management features in Russia.
About 50 alumni took part in the Saturday business breakfast. The event speaker was Pavel Alferov, professor of business practice at the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO, independent expert on project management, knowledge management and digital transformation, author of the Russian three-level project management model (RIM-III).
Pavel Alferov spoke about how cultural characteristics influence the use of Western management techniques in domestic business; in addition, the meeting participants discussed the specifics of the Russian approach to management in groups.
“Excellent catchy topic and game format of the meeting. I am glad to have the opportunity to meet and get to know new people in our Community. I support the idea of such business breakfasts to exchange opinions and experiences on current topics,” Alexander Paramonov, an alumnus of the MBA-Change Leaders 2023 program, a business architect, shared his impressions following the meeting.
“National characteristics of management greatly influence management practice. It is always useful to understand what is happening, to develop some new approaches, this is the only way to work effectively. Thank you very much again, it was really cool and useful,” Sergey Zaitsev, Executive MBA alumnus 2010, General Director of Sneg LLC.
“I really liked the business breakfast format because it offers a more relaxed atmosphere. Other events take place in the evening after work, when there may be some late work and it is not always possible to participate. I definitely recommend continuing events in this format. In terms of content, it is a very interesting, relevant topic and an interesting form of presentation with involvement, feedback and voting with statistics displayed on the screen. I liked it,” Artyom Shvaika, Executive MBA alumnus 2018, General Director of the ECLEX law firm, General Director.
The “Territory of Growth” project is a regular meeting between alumni and students of the GSOM SPbU MBA/Executive MBA programs with experienced business trainers, coaches and leadership experts who share knowledge in various professional fields. Event participants can improve their professional leadership competencies, learn more about leadership development and find business partners.
