SIBUR was one of the first to support the pilot project of the Higher School of Management of St. Petersburg State University “Industrial Internships” providing master’s students with the opportunity to undergo a six-month internship in the field of “Economics and Finance”.

This summer, Elina Filimonova, a 2nd year student of the Management program, went to Nizhnekamsk, where she successfully combined study and work in the financial department of one of the largest production sites for the production of synthetic rubbers and plastics, Nizhnekamskneftekhim PJSC (NKNKH, SIBUR).

“Participation in this program helps you immerse yourself in the company’s business processes and gain real practical experience. Manufacturing experience can provide a great start to a career in management. For me personally, participation in this project was an important stage in my professional growth. I am sure that an industrial internship far from home is an adventure that is worth agreeing to if possible, because it is new emotions, broadening your horizons and challenging yourself. I can say about Nizhnekamsk that it is a young industrial city with a well-developed leisure infrastructure: there are many parks, sports grounds and modern comfortable recreation areas,” Elina shared her impressions.

The pilot project “Industrial Internships” turned out to be successful and now SIBUR is ready to accept several more students from GSOM SPbU. In order to gain full experience working in a petrochemical company, you need to complete a test task and solve a case.

“Internships at SIBUR have been going on for many years, but we were the first to approach its organization with GSOM SPbU in such a focused manner. The purpose of this experience was to show how real production works, how processes are structured at SIBUR’s largest enterprise. A regional internship in real conditions provides unique professional experience that can become a career springboard for young professionals. Studying technological chains at the NKNK site, immersing yourself in the economics of production, studying the principles of working with efficiency and consumption standards will be an important investment in the professional future of each trainee. On the part of the SIBUR company, we support this initiative and are ready to act as partners of the program next year. We would also like to separately note the high-quality training of students at GSOM SPbU, systems thinking, the ability to work with large amounts of data, and conduct a comprehensive and factorial analysis of the causes of events,” said Anna Igumnova, senior business partner, Nizhnekamskneftekhim PJSC.
