The railway stop closest to the suburban campus of the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg State University (GSOM SPbU) has been renamed: it is now called Mikhailovskaya Dacha.
“We are grateful for this initiative of the management of Russian Railways. For GSOM SPbU, this was a real gift for the start of the new academic year from an old friend and partner: Russian Railways is a member of the GSOM Advisory Board and has been supporting our projects and our students for many years,” said Deputy President and Chairman of the Management Board of VTB Bank, Director of GSOM SPbU, Olga Dergunova.
In July 2020, the Toponymic Commission adopted a recommendation from the Transportation Department of Russian Railways to change the name of the Krasnye Zori stop to Mikhailovskaya Dacha. In August, a corresponding order was signed by Russian Railways, and the platform has been modernized.
"Mikhailovskaya Dacha" is one of the best university campuses in the country. It was opened in 2015. The architects of Studio 44 and the builders managed to combine tradition and modernity: this unique historical place combines classical architecture, a natural park on the shore of the Finnish Gulf and advanced technologies. In order to train the national elite of management personnel, in July 2006, by order of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Mikhailovskaya Dacha ensemble was transferred to the jurisdiction of St. Petersburg State University. In November 2006, President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin took part in a ceremony launching the reconstruction of this historical monument and the construction of the campus of an international business school.
The creation of a high-tech campus in Mikhailovskaya Dacha is one of the priority areas of GSOM SPbU development strategy until 2025.
