On October 7, 2022, as part of the track "Business in Society" of the IX international research Emerging Markets 2022 conference, the Russian premiere of the book The Revolutionizing Sustainability Education: Stories and Tools of Mindset Transformation took place.
The publication was edited by Ekaterina Ivanova, Associate Professor at the HSE Graduate School of Business and founder of the working group on the way of thinking for sustainable development under the UN Global Compact Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative Isabel Romanozzi. The book analyzes the experience of using innovative educational technologies used by lecturers to form a new way of thinking of business leaders implementing the principles of sustainable development in responsible management.
The book was presented by an international group of authors from Russia, the USA, Brazil, Spain and Indonesia, members of the PRME working group on mindsets for sustainable development. The organizer of the Russian part of the presentation and the moderator of the discussion was Yury Blagov, Director of the CSR Center at GSOM SPbU. The presentation, which was held in the format of a round table, was attended by professors and researchers from Russian universities, as well as representatives of the long-term partner of GSOM SPbU, the international association of business leaders Caux Round Table for Moral Capitalism, headed by with Chief Executive Officer Stephen Young.
According to Yury Blagov, the best practices presented in the book perfectly reflect the growing interest in integrating the principles of sustainable development into the educational process. The study and creative use of these practices will help GSOM SPbU in the implementation of the development strategy, which implies not only an increase in the share of disciplines focused on the ESG agenda, but also the development of relevant competencies within the entire system of courses of educational programs. It is a long and difficult road, but we must go through it. If first-year Bachelor programs students, getting acquainted with the ideas of Adam Smith, begin to read not only The Wealth of Nations, but also The Theory of Moral Sentiments, they are already laying the foundations of thinking for sustainable development.
