On 13 May, 2016 a lecture by the Senior Vice President for Corporate, Scientific, and Regulatory Affairs at JT, Mr. Junichi Fukuchi was held at the Graduate School of Management SPbU.

 

In Spring 2016 JT and JTI management held the series of guest lectures at Saint Petersburg State University. On 13 May GSOM SPbU students and graduates as well as everyone interested were happy to receive a deep knowledge on the business from the Senior Vice President for Corporate, Scientific, and Regulatory Affairs at JT, Mr. Junichi Fukuchi.

 

Deputy Head of the Graduate School of Management SPbU Mr. Konstantin V. Krotov gave a welcome speech mentioning that Saint Petersburg State University and JT are tightened by a long and fruitful history of partnership. Mr. Fukuchi affirmed these words by saying that the fact of the lecture being possible to hold itself means a lot.

 

Mr. Fukuchi’s lecture was dedicated to the decision making process at JT. Another important question raised during the lecture was the strategy of how advanced scientific practices are being implemented into the company’s business. Mr. Fukuchi successively described to the audience how the company makes long-term, mid-term and short-term plans. The audience also got a chance to learn about the Japanese concept of “kaizen” and about its meaning for the business in Japan and for Japanese companies abroad. That was very interesting and unusual.

 

The lecture was held in the Japanese language with the simultaneous translation into Russian – to hear the native Japanese language was especially useful for the students of Asian and African Studies of Saint Petersburg State University who also could not leave Mr. Fukuchi’s lecture without being present on it.
