Chief Research Associate of the Center for PPP Studies GSOM SPbU Dr. Andrew E. Ivanov took part in the Strategic Session of the Investment Committee of St. Petersburg devoted to the development of the plan for sustainable economic activity of businesses operating in St. Petersburg. The Session was held on January 27, 2015.
In his speech Dr. Andrew E. Ivanov proposed several necessary measures for the improvement of business cluster policy, including the role of PPP projects in increasing competitiveness of regional business clusters.
In terms of the efficiency of business cluster activities, development and implementation of PPP project can, in particular:
- increase competition among major cluster producers;
- contribute to the intensification of interaction among representatives of cluster companies (producers, suppliers, providers of supportive services, public sector organizations, universities, mass media) which leads to the reduction of transaction costs of major cluster producers;
- improve quality of strategic planning of cluster organizations.
Major suggestions contained in the report of Dr. Ivanov are submitted in written form to the Investment Committee of St. Petersburg.
