On May 20, 2024, the Center for Corporate Social Responsibility at GSOM SPbU held a series of events dedicated to issues of integrated reporting.
The start of a kind of “thematic day” was marked by an extended meeting of the Integrated Reporting Committee “Universities and value creation. Business models". The meeting, which was attended by more than 60 representatives of universities and the business community, was held in a hybrid format. The participants discussed the reports presented by the head of the committee Ivan Topolya, the deputy head of the School of Finance of the NRU HSE Elena Makeeva and the director of the CSR center at GSOM St. Petersburg State University Yury Blagov.
According to Yury Blagov, creating a correct business model for a university, the most important element of integrated reporting, requires mandatory consideration of two factors. Firstly, the values that guide the university. This allows us to consider not just a “transformation of capitals”, but a transformation based on values that determine the university’s responsibility to society and nature. Secondly, the specifics of the expectations of stakeholders, the satisfaction of which is aimed at the value-oriented business model.
After the end of the extended meeting, GSOM SPbU students were offered a guest lecture by Ivan Topolya on the topic “Current issues of integrated reporting.” The bulk of the audience consisted of second-year undergraduate students studying in the Management and International Management programs. For them, this lecture became an important element of completing specialized courses on business ethics and corporate social responsibility.
