Wiley, an international academic publisher, has selected the article by Darko Vukovic, Associate Professor and Chief Expert of the Centre for Market Efficiency Research and Applied Finance at the GSOM SPbU, as the most cited article in 2022-2023.
The article entitled 'Advanced data integration in banking, financial, and insurance software in the age of COVID-19' was published in the journal Software: Practice and Experience.
The expert article focuses on how future technology trends such as the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Financial Technology and Neurotechnology will impact the banking and finance industry after the industrial revolution.
There is also a strong focus on how the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the banking and finance sector to adopt new digital strategies, focusing on business continuity, cloud infrastructure and the shift to remote working and business agility.
"This direction is very important for a number of the special courses we are now teaching at GSOM SPbU. These are 'Foundation of modern financial technologies' at the bachelor’s degree and the new direction 'Robo-investing' at the master’s degree", — Darko Vukovic explained.
Darko Vukovic's article caused extensive discussion and interest in the international scientific community. For example, a number of researchers (Gaus G., Bhatti M.I., Aslam A. and Ahmad N.) in the article 'Asymmetric spillover effects of Covid-19 on the performance of the Islamic finance industry: wave analysis and forecasting' in the Journal of Economic Asymmetry emphasized that during the pandemic, global banking and finance industries were forced to implement digital changes in their operations because people did not want to perform transactions in person.
