Yulia Arai, Associate Professor at the Department of Strategic and International Management at GSOM SPbU, Academic Director of the Master in Management (MiM) programme, visited the Academy of International Business (AIB) 2024 in Seoul.
The AIB is the largest association for the study of international business. It brings together academics from around the world.
This year's main theme is The Dynamics of International Business. This time, the main goal of the AIB community was to increase the realism of IB theory and methods by reflecting the dynamics of the world they study.
In 2024, AIB gathered the largest number of participants in all the years of its existence: more than 1500 scholars and researchers came to Seoul. There were particularly large numbers from China, South Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia, allowing a closer look at the expertise of colleagues from Asia.
“Today's business practices pose new challenges for researchers. What new theories are needed to explain what is happening in the world today? New practices are emerging and theory needs to catch up with these realities. For example, the relocation of existing businesses or the restructuring of supply chains require researchers to study all the patterns”, — says Yulia Arai.
According to the GSOM SPbU lecturer, conferences of this level allow the Business School to stay at the forefront of global scientific thinking, find new collaborations and partnerships, and share the results of its research with the international academic community.
“We have seen that research in the Russian context is of great interest, and we hope that the results of our research in the field of corporate social responsibility will soon be published in high-profile international publications”, — says Yulia Arai.
