International Research GSOM Emerging Markets Conference-2017 will be held on October 5-7, 2017 at Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg State University.
The conference is an important platform for discussing a wide variety of research in the context of emerging markets. In 2016 the conference was attended by more than 430 participants – researchers from 60 leading universities from Europe, Russia, India, UK, USA, China, Brazil and other countries, business practitioners and representatives of state authorities and regulatory bodies.

Professor, Tilburg University Center for Research in Economics and Business (the Netherlands).
Professor Hennart is Extramural Fellow at Tilburg University CentER (the Netherlands). His research focuses on the comparative study of international economic institutions such as multinational firms from both developed and emerging countries, born globals, joint ventures and hybrids, modes of foreign market entry, and the internationalization of family firms. His Theory of Multinational Enterprise (1982) pioneered the application of transaction cost theory to international business. Professor Hennart is consulting editor for the Journal of International Business Studies, Fellow of AIB and EIBA, and holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Vaasa. In 2012 the International Management Division of the Academy of Management named Professor Hennart the Booz&Co/Strategy+Business Eminent Scholar in International Management. His highly cited work has been published in JIBS, the Strategic Management Journal, and other top journals. |
Associate Professor, VU University Amsterdam (the Netherlands).
Dr. van Gelderen is business psychologist specializing in entrepreneurship, focused his research as well as his teaching activities on individual level enterprising competencies. has developed several formats to study as well as practice these competencies. This includes Russia, where he was a visiting professor at Peter the Great St Petersburg Polytechnic University for the past three years. He believes autonomy is the guiding aim for entrepreneurship education and has conducted several studies on entrepreneurial autonomy. |
Professor, Aalto University (Finland)
Carl Fey is a Professor of International Business at Aalto University School of Business in Helsinki, Finland, a Visiting Professor at Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Deputy Editor in Chief of Management and Organization Review. Professor Fey’s research focuses on exploring what management practices are most effective in Russia and China. He is an experienced researcher and executive educator specialized in firm internationalization, organizational culture, international knowledge transfer, mergers and acquisitions, what management practices drive innovation, and what leadership styles and management practices work best in Russia and China. Fey is recipient of the 2013 Journal of International Business Studies Decade Award. From 1997-2010, Fey helped Stockholm School of Economics to develop a branch campus in Russia for EMBA and executive education in Russia. From 2011-2015 Fey was Dean of Nottingham University Business School China. Professor Fey has worked as a consultant or executive trainer with many firms in Russia and China including Gasprom Neft, OMK, DNB NOR Russia, CRRC, Sinopec, and Siemens. |
Doctoral Colloquium |
Doctoral Colloquium traditionally gives start to “GSOM Emerging Markets Conference”
Doctoral students at any stage of their studies and doctoral thesis development both from Russian and foreign universities are welcome for participation.
The Colloquium program is designed as a strong blend of theory, its application and detailed feedback for every doctoral student presenting their research. The idea is to provide a platform for learning and constructive discussion for doctoral students and early career academics to achieve progress in preparing high quality thesis and publications.
Colloquium program includes:

Intensive learning session “Writing and publishing research paper” on theory building and preparing top level academic publications. | |
- October 4, 2017: |
Paper development workshop with thorough feedback and discussion. | |
During the workshop the participants will present their doctoral thesis papers projects and the discussants will give their feedback and recommendations for possible improvements. | ||

GSOM/Management and International Review Emerging Scholar Consortium on Reviewing for and Publishing in Leading International Journals Speaker: Carl Fey, deputy editor of Management and Organizational Review (ABS level 3 international journal) |

Conference will take place at Graduate School of Management SPbU Campus (Mikhailovskaya Dacha): Russia, Saint Petersburg, Sankt-Peterburgskoye Shosse, 109.
Mikhailovskaya Dacha is a unique historical place combining classic architecture and innovations, natural landscape and advanced technologies.
Initially Mikhailovskaya Dacha was a summer residence of the family of Grand Duke Mikhail Romanov (1850 – 1917). The architectural and natural landscape was developing under guidance of the leading architects of the 19 century.
Close to the campus there are famous historical places and sights. These are the splendid fountains of Petrodvorets, the Konstantinovsky Palace in Strelna and the architecture of Peterhof. The Peterhof Palace is a series of palaces and gardens located in Peterhof, Saint Petersburg, Russia, laid out on the orders of Peter the Great. These palaces and gardens are sometimes referred as the "Russian Versailles". Conference guests can admire the beautiful views of these cities which are very impressive in the autumn season and also visit many museums and parks.
