Doctoral Colloquium traditionally gives start to “GSOM Emerging Markets Conference”

Doctoral students at any stage of their studies and doctoral thesis development both from Russian and foreign universities are welcome for participation.

Program

The Colloquium program is designed as a strong blend of theory, its application and detailed feedback for every doctoral student presenting their research. The idea is to provide a platform for learning and constructive discussion for doctoral students and early career academics to achieve progress in preparing high quality thesis and publications.

Colloquium program includes:

- October 3, 2017:

Intensive learning session “Writing and publishing research paper” on theory building and preparing top level academic publications.

Writing and publishing research paper” interactive workshop for PhD students aims to guide audience through the main steps of research process in management and methodological choices, as well as to discuss the optimal structure of the article and basics of publishing process and going through the review process.

Doctoral Colloquium keynote speaker

Daria Podmetina, D.Sc (Tech), Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland

Daria Podmetina is a Postdoctoral researcher at Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland. Her teaching portfolio includes Research methods for master students, Innovation management and open innovation, International business and courses related to Russian economy. Additionally she conducts workshop for PhD students and young scholars on Research methods and scientific publishing in Finland, Russia and other countries. She conducts research in innovation and international management field, specifically in innovation strategies, open and collaborative innovation, internationalization process, emerging markets, cross-border R&D cooperation. She is publishing in International Journal of Innovation Management, International Journal of Technology Marketing, Journal of East-West Business, Multinational Business Review, International Journal of Business Excellence, International Journal of Business Innovation and Research, International Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management and others.

- October 4, 2017:

Paper development workshop with thorough feedback and discussion.

During the workshop the participants will present their doctoral thesis papers projects and the discussants will give their feedback and recommendations for possible improvements.

- October 5, 2017:

GSOM/Management and International Review Emerging Scholar Consortium on Reviewing for and Publishing in Leading International Journals

Speaker: Carl Fey, deputy editor of Management and Organizational Review (ABS level 3 international journal)

Note: Participation in the workshop requires registration and additional task fulfillment!

Deadlines and criteria

Full papers submission:		by September 10, 2017

Submitted papers should relate to one of the three topics which form the main three tracks of the Colloquium:

Entrepreneurship in emerging market context;
International strategies of Russian MNEs and International entrepreneurship;
Strategic behaviors of emerging market firms.

Criteria:

Applicants are to submit structured abstracts of their papers based on dissertation research or academic article draft;
Structured abstracts should contain title, keywords, a clear indication of the purpose of the research, research methods, hypotheses/major results, theoretical contribution, key references;
Structured abstracts are limited from 2 pages A4 to 7 200 symbols (everything included: references and appendix);

Please, note that Doctoral Colloquium participants should submit full papers (by September 10, 2017)!

During the Colloquium each participant will give a 20-25 minutes paper presentation followed by a feedback discussion with other participants and experts.
Each participant will be chosen as a discussant for one of the presentations to make additional peer review.

Doctoral Colloquium participants are also encouraged to participate in the main conference on October 5-7, 2017.
