About the Event |
Doctoral Colloquium will traditionally give start to GSOM Emerging Markets Conference on October 1-2. 2019.
Doctoral students at any stage of their studies and doctoral thesis development both from Russian and foreign universities are welcome for participation.
The Doctoral Colloquium program is designed as a strong blend of theory, its application and detailed feedback for every doctoral student presenting their research. The Colloquium provides a platform for learning and constructive discussion for doctoral students and early career scholars to achieve progress in preparing high quality thesis and publications.

Associate Professor, VU University Amsterdam (the Netherlands)
Marco van Gelderen is a business psychologist specializing in entrepreneurship. Marco focuses his research as well as his teaching activities on individual level enterprising competencies. Examples of such competencies are generating ideas for opportunities, taking action, perseverance, networking, teamwork, and persuasion. He has developed several formats to study as well as practice these competencies, and conducts workshops and (short) courses in various countries and settings. Marco is currently editor of the learning innovation section of the Entrepreneurship Education & Pedagogy journal. Furthermore he is an editorial board member of the Journal of Business Venturing and of Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice.

Dr. Amitabh Anand is an experienced professional in the field of business and management research, teaching and training. For over 11 years of academic experience, he worked on in the capacity of head of international relations, head of programs and head of corporate relations. He has worked extensively on developing creative course content and practical projects through corporate partnerships. His research focuses primarily on Knowledge Management, Knowledge Hiding, Bibliometrics, Serendipity, Perceived Supervision, Virtual Teams, Organization Romance and Literature Review Tecniques. He is one of the few to address the broader picture of virtues like Generosity and Humility in the field of Knowledge Management and presented the first dyadic process model of knowledge sharing in SMEs.
Professor, Graduate School of Management St. Petersburg University, Russia
Galina Shirokova is a Professor of Department of Strategic and International Management, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship of Graduate School of Management St. Petersburg University. She teaches the following courses: "Change Management" (EMBA, MBA, corporate programs), "Entrepreneurship" (EMBA, Master program, CEMS), "Case Method in Management Research" (Doctoral program). Prof. Shirokova’s research interests include entrepreneurial firms development and growth, strategic orientations, new venture teams. Galina Shirokova is the author of more than 100 publications, including more than 30 articles in international and 60 in Russian academic journals, as well as more than 30 case studies on Russian entrepreneurial firms. Galina Shirokova is a member of a number of leading international associations (ECSB, WACRA, SMS, USASBE, AOM, etc.), and of editorial boards of leading Russian and international academic journals (Academy of Management Perspectives, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Management and Organization Review).
October 2, 2019:
Paper development workshop with thorough feedback and discussion.
During the workshop the participants will present their doctoral thesis papers projects/research articles and the discussants will give their feedback and recommendations for possible improvements.

Interested doctoral students are encouraged to submit minimum two pages extended outline (references not counted) of their research by sending them to Doctoral Colloquium coordinator Eleonora Shmeleva (e.v.shmeleva@gsom.spbu.ru).
Submitted papers should relate to one of the three topics which form the main three tracks of the Colloquium:
Accepted candidates will give a 20-25 minutes’ presentation followed by a feedback discussion. In order to encourage colloquium interaction, all attendees will be appointed as discussants for one of the presentations to make additional peer review. Doctoral Colloquium participants are also welcome to participate in the main conference sessions on October 3-5, 2019. |
