September 30, 2019 a new open course, the Basics of Product Management, has been launched. The course is intended for GSOM SPbU students. The lecturer is Valeria Kovalenko, GSOM SPbU alumni, CEO at Talentdealers, who has also worked as a CPO at Qlean, and worked in Customer Experience at Doc + and marketing at Gett.
34 of the most motivated Master and Bachelor students were selected for the course. During the course, students will get acquainted with the career of a product manager and learn about the principles of the work of technology companies.
The course the Basics of Product Management consists of 80% practice and 20%f theory. As part of the course, we will develop a real product and try to make pre-sales. The course will be useful to those students who want to run their own business or to develop in the career of a product manager. I expect that we will think, communicate, discuss products and find insights in tise process together.
Valeria Kovalenko, lecturer
Coming back to GSOM SPbU is always a pleasure, especially when you have a chance to work with top professionals. From the moment you come into the class, you feel productive atmosphere and the willigness of everyone to exchange their thoughts. I appreciate thist open culture and Lera's interest in our own background as well. It feels that we are here not to learn something through an purely academic approach, rather we are here both to exchange our ideas and experiences.
Some things to improve: I'd love to get some literature, articles or list of useful tools in advance. Probably, I know most of it already. But for those who are really interested in the topic and ready to take in more than hat is done in class, w it would be a nice way to prepare for class discussions and go deeper into the subject.
I've noted and loved various insights and hints, that make this course really valuable.
Alexandra Kretova, GSOM SPbU Bachelor program alumni
