On November 16, at the Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg State University (GSOM SPbU), international researchers will discuss the impact of global disasters on the transformation of established economic, social and political systems within the framework of the 7th International Conference "Emerging Markets 2020".
“Global catastrophes, the latest example of which is the COVID-19 pandemic, are transforming established economic, social and political systems that require urgent intervention by governments and multinational companies. National resilience not only becomes important for the country as a whole, but also serves as a source of mitigation for negative changes in the business environment. The impact of geopolitical changes, the explosive growth of online platforms, interaction between business and government, effective mechanisms for the development of competitive advantages — this is not a complete range of issues on the agenda of our track,” said Andrei Panibratov, Track Leader, Chairman of the GSOM SPbU Scientific Commission.
Participants in the Emerging Markets and Environmental Challenges track will discuss the competitive advantages and bargaining position of Russian companies and the differences between public and private business; the impact of institutions, geopolitics and regional development on the traditional activities of Russian firms and industries; BRI (Belt and Road Initiative) project and the prospects for participation of Russian companies in it from the point of view of GVC (Global Value Chains); the role of the human factor in the formation of foreign strategies by Russian firms, and much more.
The 7th International Conference Emerging Markets 2020: New Reality During and After COVID-19 will be held on November 11-18 at GSOM SPbU in an online format at the ZOOM platform. The conference is organized in partnership with The Academy of Business in Society (ABIS), a network of over 100 companies and academic institutions whose expertise and resources are used to invest in sustainable business development in society; Caux Round Table, an international organization of business leaders with a value-based approach to global capitalism; GEM&L is an international group of researchers focusing on language and communication in the business environment.
